| The car was on sale for $7700, but we
negotiated it down to $7000, believing we would at least break
even when we sold her on the east coast.
Well, guess again! We first stopped at Carmax in Maryland, where they would
only give us a mere $2000 for AMANDA. Outrageous!!! After having seen NYC and ending up
in PA, we decided to give it our best shot, and went around to a variety of
dealers. The problem was (which we didn't pay any mind to in sunny CA) that Amanda couldn't pull on both axels, meaning that she would get stuck in the snow more easily. |
Anywho, we finally caved in due to time pressure and sold her for $3100,-
but then the dealer gave us a ride home - in Amanda of course.
I would have loved nothing more than to drive the car back out west and sell
her there (or just stash her away somewhere, so that we could use her next time). It's just hard to accept, when a car like this one, in this condition, would cost at least $40.000 in Denmark.
Well, no pain no gain, right? And besides there was no way we could have experienced the 21 states that we did on this trip without AMANDA! |
